General Sightings

  • There was an advert in “The Dancing Times” that the Stuttgart Ballet is looking for 2 full-time teachers starting on the 13th September 2021. Applications have to be submitted by March the 15th.
  • Taira Foo was spotted filming “Sick” – a dance piece about one man’s struggle through depression.
  • Strictly star Janette Manrara was spotted on both the BBC1’s “Good Morning Show” and, later that day, the “Jeremy Vine Show“.
  • It was announced that James Wilson will be choreographing “Theatreland” for Curtis Productions, which will take place this April at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.
  • We spotted pro dancers Kate Thompson, Kelechi Nwanokwu & Gracie Gledhill performing on “The Masked Singer“. The choreography was by Beth Honan.

Future Dance News

  • Audition Alert – Phoenix Dance Company in Leeds are recruiting professional dancers with at least 2 years experience. The application deadline is Friday the 26th of February. For information: visit the Phoenix Dance Theatre website.

  • Charlotte Tonkinson, the dancer with The Royal Ballet, has a half-term workshop on Saturday the 13th of February – a dance-based Pilates Ballet Class plus a Q&A about company life. This is designed for students aged10 -14 and costs £26.
  • AYAW Studios have an online masterclass with Brian Friedman on Monday the 15th of February at 7.00 for £20. For information, contact Craig Wharmby at AYAW Studios.
  • There is an open Jazz Class with Ryan-Lee Seager on Saturday the 27th of February from 10.30 – 12.00 for £7.
  • Bethany Kingsley-Garner, the Principle dancer with The Scottish Ballet, brings a half-term dance workshop learning the role of the ballerina in “The Nutcracker“. Designed for 9 – 13-year-olds, the course is on Friday the 19th of February from 4.30 – 5.30. Book online at, online@danceforward.

Audi RS6 ECU Remapping

1,000 HP Audi RS6 Hits 220 MPH

People probably never asked for a station wagon with supercar performance levels, but that did not stop Audi from making one. And they still say the Germans do not have a sense of humour.

In stock form without any modifications, tunning or ECU Remapping, the RS6 Avant produces 600 metric horsepower and a staggering 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, all channelled through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to all four wheels via the proprietary Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

For most people, that should be more than enough, especially when you consider the rest of the package. We are talking about five full seats and a huge trunk that, ironically enough, makes the RS6 quite useful for a family with up to three kids. Three kids and two very cool parents.

In terms of actual performance, we’re looking at a typically German electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) and a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint of 3.6 seconds. If it weren’t for Tesla’s Model S Performance, these numbers would have probably topped the list of family-friendly cars, but a close second place is still perfectly honourable.

However impressive the numbers are, though, they’re far from the actual full potential of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. As it turns out, despite having half its engine, the Audi RS6 Avant can be pushed to match the performance of the original Bugatti Veyron, and that’s without messing with the engine block at all.

The guys over at MTM managed to get over 1,000 hp and 922 lb-ft (1,250 Nm) – the exact specifications of the first modern Bug – by upgrading to larger turbochargers, installing an open-air filter, using a larger air intake, replacing the exhaust system, and, of course, remapping the engine’s ECU.

The result is simply breath-taking, especially if you happen to love the new RS6‘s exterior design – which we do. The 0-62 mph sprint now takes 2.8 seconds, whereas the top speed… well, it’s still limited, but not electronically limited. As it turns out, the only two things holding it back right now are the tire specifications and the risks of doing 220 mph (354 km/h) on open roads, even if we are talking about an unrestricted segment of the Autobahn.

With the ‘bubble life’ and a limited number of fans, that too just on Court Philippe Chatrier, the tournament will feel unusual. What remains the same for the players, though, is the desire to lift the coveted trophy and be a Grand Slam champion.

The main French Open event has five historic trophies for the five draws. These are men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

All five French Open trophies have some history of the event attached to them, as well as that of past legends of tennis. They have been awarded to champions since 1953.

One of the two main trophies, The Musketeers’ Cup, is awarded to the winner of the men’s singles event. The trophy is a classy silver bowl with swan-shaped handles and vine leaves decorating the top. It sits on a marble base and displays the names of all winners of the men’s singles event since 1891.

The name is a tribute to Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, Henri Cochet, and René Lacoste, who are known as the four musketeers of French tennis.

Rafael Nadal has held this trophy the most number of times, with 12 Roland Garros to his name.

Women’s singles trophy

The Suzanne-Lenglen Cup has been awarded to the women’s singles champion for the last 41 years. It honors women’s tennis legend, Suzanne Lenglen, who is a six-time French Open champion, from the 1920s.
The trophy bears resemblance to the cup offered to Lenglen by the City of Nice, back in the day. It is displayed in the National Sports Museum.
Chris Evert has seven French Open titles, the most women’s singles titles in the Open Era, and overall.

The men’s doubles champions at the French Open 2020 lift the Jacques-Brugnon Cup, which is a tribute to one of the Musketeers who goes by the same name. It was created in 1989.

The Simonne-Mathieu Cup was created 30 years ago and has been awarded to the women’s singles champions since. It honors Simonne Mathieu, who won two women’s singles titles at the French Open and is an eight-time finalist. She is an eight-time champion in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles as well.

The third biggest court at Roland Garros is also named after Mathieu.

Family of 4 looking for a VW Campervan.

VW T5 & T6 Campervan Conversions.

You’ll have seen high spec T5 & T6 Campervans coming up online with 150PS this and 4Motion that, but ultimately, for most families, looking for a great campervan to use for many years and create loads of great memories, they just aren’t needed. The mid-range mapping of the standard 2.0 5 speed engine is 102PS, has loads of power to get you up that long hill climbs, overtake quickly when you’re stuck behind something on a country road and cruise at 70mph on the motorway achieving 40mpg.

The 102PS is the most common engine output of all the VW T5’s and T6’, serving thousands of business transporting anything from building supplies to fridge freezers, so if its more than capable of that, then it can sure take you and your family off on your travels with a 250kg campervan conversion.

A Highline VW T5 or T6 comes as standard with a whole host of extras. Aircon, Cruise, Front heated screen, rear parking sensors, driver’s seat armrests. The most common extra that is sought after is Air Con, so people often search only for Highline models, to guarantee that each vehicle they look at will have it.

Camper_Versions purchase 12month old VW T6’s from VW with less than 10k miles on the clock, and complete their Pioneer Conversion with Ultimate pack of extras and create an almost brand new ready to go campervan for £42’000. This is a very high spec’d campervan, with a Highline base model VW T6 with everything you need.

If your budget is around £32’000, a year older Startline or Trendline base model would better suit, but more than likely it wouldn’t have Air Con, although camper_versions do have Startlines with Air Con from time to time. The main point to note is that Air Con isn’t a necessity for campervans in the UK. It’s nice to have, sure, but a vehicle with air-con will be around £3000 more than one without (if it’s the same year and mileage). As camper_versions only sell very high-quality conversions, they only install them onto low mileage VW T5 and T6’s base models, rather than purchasing higher mileage, older Highlines. It’s far more economical to lower the spec of the base van, to reduce the on the road price, rather than sacrifice age, mileage, or spec of the campervan. camper_versions purchase ex-lease Startlines that are 2 years old, still under VW warranty with 20k-35k miles and install their Pioneer Conversion with Explorer pack of extras, creating a ready to go campervan for £33’000.
